About this book
›Frankenstein’s Daughter‹ is the result of a team-work being done by pupils of the three nations Germany, Spain, and Turkey within the multilateral ›Comenius Programme‹ of the European Union. This project – having lasted from autumn 2007 until summer 2009 – is intended to advance agreement between nations by international communication and transnational meetings.
Under the motto ›Abrakadabra: The witchcraft of reading‹ the pupils discovered the pleasure of reading and writing within an international framework using traditional means like books, libraries and mutual visits in each others countries as well as modern techniques like digital videos and the ›world wide web‹.
Seminar groups and ›reading circles‹ in each country acquired the Frankenstein and related horror stories material. As a result of their studies pupils in Germany, Spain, and Turkey wrote their own Frankenstein story called ›Frankenstein’s Daughter‹ which is published in this book.
The story, whose plot is playing in the three participating countries, begins with the part the Spanish pupils wrote – chapters 1 to 10. Based upon this the German group took over developing chapters 11 to 22. Finally the conclusion was written by the Turkish pupils – chapters 23 to 28. In the end each part was translated into English by the respective groups. The cover illustration is based on drawings made by the German group.
